About Me

Welcome to my story.

After many years as PA to a highly respected Senior Counsel, and a long-held desire to become an Interior Designer, I took the first step to change career paths. With my eldest child commencing her HSC it seemed like the “perfect” time to commence studying a Diploma of Interior Design at Billy Blue College of Design (Torrens University) (yes, I know - what was I thinking - undertaking studies with an HSC student in the house). I completed the Diploma and enjoyed it so much I transferred to Torrens University's Bachelor of Interior Design degree. I’m now completing my studies just as my second child is finishing their HSC (obviously studying and dealing with one HSC student wasn’t enough).

Whilst studying, the responsibility of meeting my work and family obligations with the commitment they deserve and with the level of integrity I value, hasn’t always been easy. However, my positive attitude, willingness to learn and desire for change inspired me to continue. These qualities and strengths provided me with two separate firsthand opportunities to experience interior design projects outside of my family home.

The first was in 2011. I was contracted for four months to provide administrative duties at Central Innovation. I arrived and was also given the brief to organise the fitout and relocation of their Head Office and Training facilities. The second was created in my current PA role when I was tasked with relocating my employer’s Chambers and designing a new workstation and storage for him.

These experiences piqued my desire for change and inspired me to commence my studies, finally making that career change I'd longed for.

Throughout my studies I have seen firsthand how the value of human centered design and the importance of not solving the problem too quickly can achieve a more considered design. I thoroughly enjoy the process of researching a project, formulating a concept and implementing feedback to achieve a developed and thought-out design. This was affirmed through my experience with the Student Service Design Challenge in 2021 and prior to that, with the Eussen Interior Design Award in 2019.

Thank you for receiving my story, viewing my portfolio and acknowledging this newest chapter in my life.
