Central Innovation (Graphisoft / Intercad) Head Office Fitout

2011

In 2011 I accepted a short term contract to work as Legal Secretary/PA/EA at Central Innovation (Graphisoft/Intercad) in Frenches Forest. At that time the company was undergoing a takeover.

In addition to an administrative role, I was asked to project manage the fitout of their new premises. This included obtaining quotes and selecting furniture, overseeing the building works, and the co-ordination and relocation of the Head Office and NSW Training Facility staff to their new premises. As I had not had any formal design training at the time this project was undertaken, it does not contain any conceptual or design ideation.

The premises were located over two floors with the Head Office located on the First Floor and the NSW Training Facility on the Ground Floor. A builder had already been engaged to create the partition walls between the Boardroom and Executive Offices.

I was asked to select the furniture for the NSW Training Facility, Head Office staff, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer and Boardroom. The NSW Training Facility needed space to set up training rooms for the various courses they run. In addition to this, the Training Staff needed personal workstation space in order to fulfil their work requirements. The Head Office staff needed workstations with importance placed on the location of specific working groups. There was also a significant amount of storage required for record keeping.

In order to reduce costs and wastage it was decided to retain the carpet. As the carpet was quite dark, I decided to offset this by selecting lighter coloured storage and workstation pedestals which were offset by the natural oak timber desktops and the lime green workstation screens for contrast.
